SHANNON SMITH
Graduate Student
Shannon was born and raised in Nova Scotia. She is a Registered Nurse currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She also holds Bachelors of Science in Biology & Psychology (Saint Mary’s, 2003) and Nursing (Dalhousie, 2007).
Since 2007, Shannon has worked in acute inpatient psychiatry in Halifax, specializing in eating disorders since 2010. Her passion is helping individuals heal their relationship with food and body. She is certified in Intuitive Eating counselling and has experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Binge Focused Therapy, and leading body image and distress tolerance groups. She also has a keen interest in working with individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and addictions.
Shannon is an introvert and foodie at heart. She is a mom of two and enjoys spending her weekends with her family, either quietly at home or checking out new local restaurants around the province. She brings warmth, empathy, humour, and an eagerness to help her clients connect to themselves and others.
